A Difficult But Needed Change

For nearly three decades, Ancient Path has worked alongside leaders in Malawi to serve vulnerable children, families, and communities.

Today, I want to share honestly about a challenge we are facing.

The cost of living in Malawi has risen dramatically. Food, transportation, and program expenses continue to increase, while many of the families we serve struggle to meet even their most basic needs. At the same time, our operating funds in Malawi have become critically low.

We've worked hard to keep costs low. Here in the United States, we have no office space, our team receives no salaries, and we recently reduced our storage costs by more than 85%.

Our Malawi team has also made difficult decisions. For years, Agonjetsi, our tutoring and nutrition program, served more than 220 children each week. Rising costs made that level of support unsustainable. After careful consultation with teachers and community leaders, the program was reduced to serve 50 of the most vulnerable children.

This decision was heartbreaking but necessary to ensure that our limited resources can continue to serve children, youth, adults, and refugees while prioritizing those with the greatest need.
