I’m Irish-born and downwardly mobile. I currently reside in the USA with my best friend/ husband of 31 years and my little best friend/daughter of 14 years. My son and his wife/my friend have just contributed the newest addition to our family – a beautiful baby girl named Poppy. My first grandchild. I’m a Nana now.
We live somewhat counter-culturally within a multicultural family and we travel alot – mostly to Africa.
I’m also part of a community of artists called Ancient Path and I founded a non-profit that shares the same name. Together we’re a global community of people who follow Jesus and use the arts to incite compassionate action and ignite hope in a hurting world. I admit that I’m biased toward the marginalized, poor and powerless – I figure that’s the way it should be.

As I’ve followed Him for over a quarter of a century, I’ve found myself in interesting places – spiritually, emotionally and geographically. I have my share of both scars and stories. I also have a bent towards the mystical – which is why I’ve named this blog Thin Places.
Thin Places is an old celtic phrase used to describe a place where the veil between heaven and earth is stretched taut – a place where the two worlds meet, where spirit touches matter, where heaven and earth kiss. A place where the invisible is not necessarily unseen.
I’ve experienced thin places in the hills of Ireland, the mountains of Switzerland, the ruins of Israel, and the monasteries and art museums of Italy – as well as my tiny rustic cabin in the woods. I’ve also seen heaven touch earth in homeless shelters, AIDS hospitals, mud hovels and remote jungle forests so hot I could barely breathe. . Clearly it has nothing to do with place.
I’ve come to believe that Thin Places exist everywhere – simply because God is everywhere and in everything. It’s just a matter of seeing.
